BBC investigation after Hamas official’s daughter ‘was paid for documentary’

28 February 2025 8:45pm GMT The BBC is to investigate claims that a Hamas official’s daughter who appeared to celebrate the Oct 7 attacks was paid during the making of its controversial Gaza documentary. On the day of the atrocity, Safia al-Yazouri wrote on Facebook: “Amen O Lord,” along with an emoji of hands clasped in thanks and a green heart. She is believed to be the daughter of Ayman Al-Yazouri, a deputy agriculture minister in Gaza’s Hamas government, and the sister of Abdullah, who narrated Gaza: How To Survive A Warzone. The BBC has admitted that Hoyo Films, the independent production company that made the documentary, had paid the boy’s mother “via his sister’s bank account” for his narrating services.
