Jay-Z and his wife Beyoncé faced death threats after a 'malicious and fictitious' lawsuit falsely accused the rapper of rape, his counter suit has revealed.
The rapper, real name Shawn Carter, was accused of attacking a 13-year-old girl at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards party alongside Sean 'Diddy' Combs in a lawsuit that was filed in December last year.
The unnamed accuser has voluntarily dismissed the case and Carter, 55, has now sued his accuser's attorney Tony Buzbee, who filed the allegations.Carter alleges that Buzbee's 'public statements about me and accusations against me have caused me harm', including he and his wife receiving violent threats, the court documents reveal.
'People have said "I can't wait until you join (Combs) in prison. Then later in hell",' Carter alleged in his complaint.
'Other comments have accused me of being a "satanist", a "trafficker", a "terrorist", and a "monster", called me the N-word and threatened violence against me and my wife, including to "kill" or "execute" us.'
Buzbee filed the complaint in December, the day before the Long King prequel Mufasa premiered in London. The film starred Beyonce, 43, and the couple's eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, 13.
Carter also alleged that Buzzbee 'purposely' filed the complaint - which he branded 'frivolous, fictitious and appalling' - the night before the premiere to 'put me in the position of having to choose between supporting my daughter or hiding to avoid the negative press coverage'.
The 99 Problems hitmaker no longer faces legal action. Combs, 55, however, has more than three dozen outstanding cases. Combs has denied all of the allegations against him.
