Los Angeles Fires Remain at 0% Containment as Strong Winds Continue to Burn 5,000 Acres

JD Knapp, January 8, 2025 @ 6:10 AM Los Angeles’ Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires each remain at 0% containment as of Wednesday morning, as hundreds of thousands of locals have either received evacuation orders or warning notices after the fires began Tuesday. So far, the Palisades fire has burned 2,921 acres, the Eaton fire 2,227 acres and the Hurst fire 500 acres, according to CalFire. That’s 5,018 acres in total, in addition to a new Woodley fire in L.A. affecting 75 acres. No civilian or firefighter casualties have been confirmed. Two public evacuation shelters are currently in operation at the Westwood Recreation Center for the Palisades fire and the Ritchie Valens Recreation Center for the Hurst fire.
