Man United winger Alejandro Garnacho DEACTIVATES his X account

Published: 13:01 GMT, 5 January 2025 Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has seemingly deactivated his X account after facing criticism and being dropped by Ruben Amorim. Garnacho, 20, was left out entirely for the derby victory against Manchester City last month, alongside Marcus Rashford, and has been benched for the last four games. Mail Sport exclusively revealed that he had appeared to turn his back on Amorim and walk away while being given instructions before he came on against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League, just three days before the trip to the Etihad. Representatives for Garnacho denied that he was being disrespectful and put the matter down to a misunderstanding while United sources insisted there is no rift. But the decision to freeze him out has raised doubts over his suitability in Amorim's 3-4-3 system and his cameo displays have left supporters unimpressed. He is in line to feature against Liverpool at Anfield this afternoon, having returned to the fold and been brought on as a substitute in recent matches, but he appeared to have shut down his official X account in the build-up to the showdown. Indeed, a search for his profile now shows an empty page and text which reads: 'This account doesn't exist.' His profile photo is also empty. The reason behind Garnacho's decision is not yet known. Garnacho landed himself in hot water over his social media activity after liking two posts on X criticising Erik ten Hag's handling of the player last April. After being taken off at half-time during United's 2-2 draw at Bournemouth, Garnacho liked two messages on the site by YouTuber Mark Goldbridge. One read: 'Ten Hag subtly blaming Garnacho in the post match press conferenceā€¦ not a good look throwing a 19 year old under the bus who has actually delivered for you this season. But then again he's clearly scared of upsetting the bigger earners.' The other added that Garnacho 'had a poor first half but taking him off at half time and holding him up as the problem is a joke'. Garnacho quickly unliked both messages and was spoken to by Ten Hag, and United said the matter had been dealt with internally.
