Roman mosaic found in farmer’s field
More buildings and another mosaic have been discovered beneath a farmer’s field in England.
Archaeologists said they were “gobsmacked” at the finds when they returned for the latest dig at the site of a Roman villa in Rutland.
The newest discoveries could mean the estate is a hundred years older than previously thought.
Experts first found another mosaic at the site which depicts scenes from Trojan war epic The Iliad, in 2021.
