Materials
We can easily detect the main difference of the material used in architecture just in First glance. In ancient and old traditional architecture the use of Stone was dominant. The ancient buildings were mainly built of stones and its derivatives such as granite, marble, Slate and limestone. You can see the stonework in old buildings, houses, churches, palaces, mosques and governmental buildings.
In modern times the stonework is replaced by the use of good amount of glass material with concrete and steel. We can see the massive use of glass in the offices, houses, buildings and shopping malls nowadays. Glass makes the building more modern and stylish. Technology helps us to settle on suitable material for a particular need through proper research.
Design
In the ancient times the buildings and houses were built with large windows and ventilation spaces so that the light and air can enter. Modern architecture has changed many features in the design because now we have air conditioners, lighting and electricity. Technologies and architecture advancements allow us to design windows in different sizes and shapes. The glass walls and large windows can act as a great source of air and light both.
Use of space
If you had a chance to visit the ancient buildings and houses then you will notice the larger spaces and wide rooms. Larger spaces are the crucial factor of any ancient and traditional architecture. In ancient times there was no lack of space and that makes ancient architecture spread out horizontally. But in the modern world where land space is a big issue, Horizontal spread of building is replaced by talking up all the vertical space. The modern architecture allow us to build taller buildings. The problem of lack of ground space is now solved by stacking up multi stories in a building that had less horizontal space. The tallest building in the world is located in UAE and it is known as burj Khalifa and it is standing at the height of 1 Km.
Mode of Execution
In the ancient times it takes years to build a building and also it takes significant amount of time to built even a house due to the human labor. The shifting of stone and bricks from one place to another and all the construction process was a hectic job. But now in modern times the manual labor is shifted to automation. Now we have machinery that makes so many tasks very easy and quick. Modern architecture takes less time to complete a building. The interior of the modern houses is also very different from ancient houses. Traditional architecture has a large number of manual setups for basic chores like washing, room heater and larger kitchen. On the other hand modern architecture consist of automated devices controlled but simple voice commands.
