Phobia is and intense and irrational fear of some specific object, activity, situation and person that is unlikely to cause any harm. Phobias are persistence and strong Anxiety disorders that drive the person’s behavior towards certain things.

People with phobias avoid all hose things they fear to prevent severe anxiety. With the advancement of education and Awareness regarding phobias, many phobias come in the spotlight and it can be of any shape and size. If phobic people watch that certain person, place, situation or thing then that can be a trigger to their panic and Anxiety. People can have phobia of anything that is absolutely harmless and may not be terrifying but the phobic person is going to have strong sense of fear and distress. The list of Phobias is very long. Here are some different types of Phobias exist in the world.

Animal Phobias

Animal Phobias are the extreme fear of certain animals such as dogs, snakes, insects, mice and spiders. Exposure to these animals can trigger the intense panic and fear in the phobic people and it can cause serious issues. Animal phobias are the most common specific phobias.

Situational Phobias

This type of phobias are related to the fear of certain situations such as flying, using public transportation, driving, riding roller-coaster, fear of passing the tunnels, being in a closed and small places.

Natural Environment phobias

These types of phobias are related to the fear of certain natural environmental situations such as raining, storms, strong winds, water, Thunderstorms and heights. People with natural environmental phobias feel extreme distress and panic while witnessing any of these situations.

Blood and medical phobias

These types of phobias are related with watching blood, suffering from injury and going through medical procedures. People with blood and medical phobias will be triggered when hey are going to see blood. They are going to feel extreme fear of getting injured and wounded. Along with that Medical phobic people are most likely to avoid the medical procedures such as injections, blood tests and surgeries.

Other phobias

This category had all the phobias from simple and common things and scenarios that aren’t related to any of the above types. This type consist of phobias such as fear of falling down, fear of loud sounds, fear of certain people especially costumed characters such as clowns, fear of choking, fear of germs and unusual fear of certain signs and shapes.
How does anyone get Phobia?
According to the studies phobias are common and anyone can have it. A phobia doesn’t have a genetic or medical reason to occur but it can be a result of certain traumatic experience regarding some animals, situations, places and people. That painful and traumatic experience can make that certain things attached to your nervous system and it can make you remember that situation whenever you witness and observe that thing again. Phobias can appear due to the constant warnings and threats about certain animals and situations and that can lead to the unusual fear without even witnessing it in real life. Children who had phobic parents that fear a certain situation are more likely to adapt that phobia. Phobia can appear in childhood, adulthood and even elderly age. According to the studies it was observed that Women are more likely to have phobia then men. Many children can have Phobias and it can only stay with them in childhood and they can disappear with the passage of time and increasing age. It is observed that phobias are adulthood are long lasting and stronger then phobias from childhood. Approximately 20% of the Phobias can disappear on its own and without any specific treatment. Other strong Phobias can be cured with proper counseling, precautions to avoid things that can trigger your fear, support from family and partner and strong will power.

Hydrophobia

Hydro means water so hydrophobia is simply the fear of water and water places. People with hydrophobia can feel the immediate and strong feeling of fear, anxiety, panic and distress while looking at huge water bodies or even thinking about water. Claustrophobia

Claustrophobia is the extreme fear of confined, closed and crowded places. This is considered as one of the most reasonable phobias to get upset, stressed and uncomfortable in these kinds of situations. A Claustrophobic person will feel panic, shortness of breath and extreme anxiety to be in such places and it can cause severe nervous breakdown if not treated or take that person away from that confined place. Mysophobia or Germaphobia is the fear of germs and bacteria and getting dirty. People with Mysophobia are extremely conscious about their hygiene and they had an extreme fear of getting dirty due to the thought of germs present everywhere. They are obsessed with cleanliness and they wash their hands frequently and always use sanitizer. They disinfect their homes and bedroom very thoroughly. They are going to take bath frequently to stay protected. Mysophobic people avoid interacting with unhygienic people and avoid using public restrooms and going to public places such as restaurant.
